Don't bother creating a second necro char. When you reach the crystal desert, you can change secondary anyway.
Most of the time you'll probably be using necro skills only, so 2 necro chars will be pointless and one of them would be completely redundant once you get to the stage where you can change secondaries.

I've decided to go N/Mo and aim for Minion Master but I'm not quite sure how to start off. I know what the skill build for a MM should look like later into the game but I don't know how to start off other than investing in death magic and summoning skills.

I just saw your post Xenomortis. I want to keep my N/W a N/W through the game but I also want to make a second Necro.

After you reach a certain point in the game you can switch in between secondaries. As for MMing, the main thing you need is one or two minions spells and [[blood of the master]. Everything else is optional. For /mo maybe [[heal area] or [[aegis] and [[protective spirit].

Calista, I realise that you're a good player and that you know what you're talking about but if you're not going to post any concrete tips and helpful information why post here? You've made your point that you think N/W is a crap combo so why go on saying so instead of giving me some constructive criticism? Unless you consider 'Caster professions with swords or axes suck' and 'Get to lvl 20 where you can actually run a bar that constitutes a "build".Your playing prophecies which is home to some of the most potent necromancer skills in the game, potency which only really shines at level 20 with your full quota of attribute points ' to be detailed constructive criticism.
That actually is actually very solid advice. No build can function as good as its potential until lvl 20 with full points. If you were to leave pre now at x level, most of the suggestions that I could have posted wouldn't have been as effective. Not directed at you but a lot of people make certain classes which they like in lower levels of pve,but hate them once they get onto the mainlands.

[this;OAVDIjxHD5ZZZ7ZXj5IA] Is a very solid curses(prophecies only) build originally posted by Moloch Vein, writer of This Guide

And like others mentioned PvX Wiki is a very good site for base ideas, but not always the best.

Thats about all any of us can cover for now

Why? Ultimatly you'll have two necro chars and one of them will be completely redundant. Stick with the N/W or N/Mo and delete the other. You'll get your chance to switch secondaries as much as you want later on. You don't need a secondary to be a MM anyway.

Xenomortis, yeah it makes sense and you're right that's what I'll most likely do. Right now I'm pretty tired and it's getting hard to think logically.

Calisto, I read the guide and I'm pretty sure that if I'm a N/W aiming to become a MM after I change secondary, mesmer skills don't really fit into my plan.

Once you've unlocked a secondary profession, you can change to it and back as often as you like. So once you've unlocked the mesmer secondary, you can go to that, or monk (when you've unlocked that), or perhaps back to warrior

They do/should. A necro can he his minions just fine with necro only skills. Your secondary should compliment your primary. So since as an MM yo will be running 16 dm with high soul reaping, the skills you are gonna use from your secondary should work well with little or no points specced into it. That leaves yourself with /mo for hard rez or cond/hex removal, or ideally /mes for aoe interrupt.

I'm know that N/Me is a good combo for hexes and curses but I'm going for a combo that's good for summoning minions and maintaining them, hence the N/Mo combo.

That's what I'm saying, you don't need the /mo to maintain your minions, [[blood of the master] will be do just fine. So it would be better to use your secondary for something more useful.

Alright, I see what you mean now. I was mainly going by Moloch Veins guide on MMs.

Anyway, I'm going to go play now since it seems I've been spending more time on the Guild Wars forum than in the game.

Just delete it, you can switch your secondary later in the game and by then you will hopefully have realized how dumb N/W is.

Just a quick update for the unlikely possibility that anyone is interested

I leveled the Necro Warrior up to 14 and I'm at Frost Gate right now. I was pretty suprised I got this far, cause going by most of the posts I was thinking that I wouldn't manage to even get out of Old Ascalon. So far I've been using henchmen and I have'nt had any major problems. I ditched all the warrior skills and am currently running a pure Necro 'build'.
